Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White skip Falcons OTAs

As Atlanta tries to keep their window of opportunity stretched open with veterans, a couple of key players have opted to not participate this week.

The Falcons are without two key veterans for voluntary workouts, with tight end Tony Gonzalez and wide receiver Roddy White both qualifying as no-shows this week. Gonzalez, 37, put off retirement for one more year, but doesn't appear to be in a rush to exert too much energy going into what will likely be his final season.

Atlanta is coming off of a 13-3 season that saw them fall just shy of the Super Bowl after a 28-24 loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. There was some doubt as to whether or not Gonzalez would return for another year, as he had implied that he was leaning heavily toward retirement, but the 16-year vet opted to give it one more shot. He just isn't opting to participate in the voluntary workouts this week.

Also not participating is star receiver Roddy White, 31, coming off of his sixth straight season of at least 1,100 yards and 80 catches. White and Gonzalez have combined for nearly 23,000 career receiving yards. Their efforts on the Falcons practice field to try and get Atlanta to the Super Bowl will just be slightly delayed.
