Titans pursuing John Abraham, per report

The Titans may be close to boosting their pass rush as Tennessee is discussing signing John Abraham.

Josh D. Weiss-US PRESSWIRE

John Abraham has made the rounds this offseason, but the veteran defensive end has yet to land with a new team. That may change soon as the Tennessee Titans are considering signing Abraham, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 35-year-old Abraham visited the Titans last week, the fourth team he's visited this offseason. According to Schefter's report a deal between the Titans and Abraham could be done as soon as this week. Abraham, who was released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this offseason, could be a boost for the Titans pass rush. Despite not playing an every-down role last season, Abraham was still able to finish with 10.0 sacks. He has 32.5 sacks over the last three seasons and 12 forced fumbles.

The Titans signed defensive end Ropati Pitoitua earlier this offseason, but have been in the market for a veteran defensive end since the end of the NFL Draft. in addition to hosting Abraham, the Titans also hosted Israel Idonije on a free agent visit and have been connected to Dwight Freeney as well. Derrick Morgan and Kamerion Wimbley started at defensive end for Tennessee last season, combining for 12.5 sacks.

If Abraham does land in Tennessee, he could combine with Wimbley and Morgan to form a dangerous pass-rushing trio. All three finished in the top 10 in quarterback hurries last season according to Pro Football Focus.
