Arian Foster hopes to bounce back in 2013

Despite making his third Pro Bowl appearance, Foster believes he needs to see improvement in his game.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster wasn't thrilled with the way he played last year. In fact, even with a league-leading 17 touchdowns and over 1,600 all-purpose yards, the former undrafted rookie free agent out of Tennessee was downright disappointed, according to the Texans official website.

Foster had another terrific season, but did see his yards per carry average slip 0.6 from 4.7 to 4.1. He also caught only 40 passes for a guy that usually hauls in around 60 receptions in a season. All told, the totals were prolific but not to Foster’s standards.

This offseason, Foster has dedicated himself once more, looking to regain the form that has made him one of the best running backs in the game over the past three seasons. Per the article:

“I set a lot of personal goals, a lot of things that I do,” Foster said. “I just didn’t feel like I was at my best, and it’s gonna change this year.”

“(I’ve) just refocused and rededicated myself to another level, and hopefully it shows,” Foster said. “I’m not traveling. I’m not doing a lot. I’m here in Houston and I’m training.”

With Houston’s eyes set on the Super Bowl after advancing to the AFC Divisional round for the second-consecutive year in 2012, Foster’s improvement could be what puts them over the top.
