Adam Jones was arrested on Monday and now security video of the incident has been released.

The security video, which was obtained by ESPN 1530 in Cincinnati, shows Jones strike a woman after she hit him with what appears to be a beer bottle. Jones tweeted that he was arrested for “protecting myself” and the video confirms the woman initiated contact. Near the 50-second mark of the video below, you see Jones -- wearing a red and black striped shirt -- approach a table with two women. One woman leaves her seat while the woman who eventually strikes Jones approaches him along the fence. After a brief conversation, the woman appears to strike Jones in the face with a beer bottle at the 1:03 point of the video. Jones immediately reacts by pushing the woman’s arm away or striking her. Jones is escorted away while the woman involved recovers and follows him off camera.
It’s unclear what caused the incident, as the brief conversation did not appear to be hostile. Jones’ agent said the woman involved was intoxicated. Police will now be tasked with determining if Jones’ actions constitute self-defense.
