The New York Giants started their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and wide receiver Victor Cruz is still a no-show. Coach Tom Coughlin is getting frustrated with his absence, telling the New York Daily News, "I've been optimistic since Day 1, but it hasn't gotten me anywhere, has it? But the clock is running. This is something that at least he could've benefited by, if nothing else, this minicamp."

Negotiations with Cruz have been moving at a snail’s pace, but the Giants do have the option of reducing his restricted free agent from $2.879 million to $630,000. It’s unknown if they will exercise this option, but it is one piece of leverage they have over Cruz.

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Wednesday and will be out for next week's minicamps. The injury isn't deemed serious, and Greenway should be ready to go for training camp. He had 148 tackles and three sacks for the Vikings last season.
Hey, remember that Manti Te'o guy? The Chargers put him on a long media blackout after the NFL Draft to help him focus on football after a tumultuous offseason. Now the rookie linebacker has finally spoken to the media on Tuesday. "I've had the time to focus on the plays and focus on what goes on on the field," Te'o said, "And that has definitely helped me improve." It wasn't a particularly groundbreaking interview, but so far Te'o is impressing his coaches and teammates where it matters--on the football field.
The Baltimore Ravens released fullback Vonta Leach on Tuesday morning. Just one day later, he will be visiting the Miami Dolphins. Leach is a quality lead blocker, but he's 32 and was too expensive for the cap-strapped Ravens to keep. Leach could provide a spark for the running game in Miami, which averaged 4.1 yards per carry last year, but it may not mean much if the offensive line doesn't improve.
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is paying another visit to Dr. James Andrews. No, it's not as bad as it sounds. Griffin's knee rehab is going well, and he hopes to get clearance to begin cutting next week. Griffin is still doing running and bootleg drills, but being able to cut is a key step in the mobile quarterback's recovery. He's on track to be ready for Week 1.
