Terrell Owens garners no interest during NFL offseason

T.O. wants back in the league, but does the league want T.O. back in it? Not right now, it seems. What chance does Owens have to start a comeback?

Terrell Owens hasn't caught a pass in the NFL since 2010 when he was with the Cincinnati Bengals, but that hasn't stopped him from wanting to still be a part of a team somewhere. The problem is that so far no teams appear to want Owens to be a part of them. The 39-year-old receiver told the NFL Network that he hasn't heard anything from any teams as of yet.

“Nothing as of right now,” he said. “So I understand the process. Obviously teams are really taking a closer look in evaluating their younger players. Being a free agent, I understand that later in the months as training camp starts, they’ll start looking for veterans.”

Owens was signed by the Seattle Seahawks last offseason but was released during the preseason after mixed reviews and at least one big drop that would have gone for a Matt Flynn touchdown pass. That was the last that any mention of Owens with an NFL team has been heard.

He is apparently interested in looking into joining the Kansas City Chiefs or Minnesota Vikings, two potential playoff teams that could use help at wide receiver, just like the Seahawks were last season. But he is aware that veterans likely won't be brought in until teams have had a longer look at the rookies. Or that it could still have to do with the fact that he is T.O.:

“It’s all politics,” he said. “I think a lot of it has to do with my reputation, things that I’ve done early in my career. I’m a changed person. I’m a bit more mature then I was in years past and I think if anybody out there can look past that, and look what I can bring to the team than some of the things that happened in the past, I can look past it and maybe they could and I could go in and help a team develop some of those younger guys.”

If he doesn’t find a team this year, Owens has said that he will officially retire.
