NFL news: Seymour and Falcons hit impasse, Broyles surprising in minicamp, and more

OTAs and minicamps may be over, but the NFL news cycle rolls on. Here are the biggest headlines from Sunday.

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

Defensive end Richard Seymour and the Atlanta Falcons have hit a roadblock in their ongoing negotiations, with Seymour telling CBS' Jason La Canfora that the two sides couldn't agree on a deal. However, the talks aren't completely dead yet, and Seymour would like to play for the team and contend for another Super Bowl ring.

Here are some other headlines around the NFL world.

Brian Banks’ accuser ordered to pay $2.6 million

The woman who falsely accused linebacker Brian Banks of rape has been ordered to pay $2.6 million to Long Beach Poly High School. Wanetta Gibson sued the school district for her alleged rape and was awarded $750,000. Banks served five years in prison before being exonerated in 2011. A promising prep star who was once committed to USC, Banks is trying to revive his football career. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons in April and is fighting for a roster spot.

Darrius Heyward-Bey to get more looks with Colts than with Raiders

The Indianapolis Colts want to use Darrius Heyward-Bey in a much bigger role than he served with the Oakland Raiders. The coaches believe that the speedy receiver could thrive with Andrew Luck throwing to him and give the team a vertical deep threat they didn't really have last season. Heyward-Bey never quite lived up to his lofty draft position, but the talent is still there.

Ryan Broyles is biggest surprise at Lions minicamp

Ryan Broyles is turning all kinds of heads this spring. Despite tearing his ACL in December, his second ACL injury in 13 months, Broyles has been a full participant in Detroit's minicamps and was by far the biggest surprise out of camp. Barring any setbacks, he's in line to win the No. 2 receiver job behind Calvin Johnson. Broyles was coming along last year before the injury.
