790 The Zone fires hosts responsible for Steve Gleason bit
The radio hosts who made fun of Steve Gleason on Monday have been fired.

”We deeply regret the offensive programming that aired this morning on “Mayhem In The AM” on 790 The Zone, related to former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason and his battle with ALS. We suspended the three individuals involved immediately following their comments and have since terminated their employment. 790 The Zone, our owners, sponsors and partners in no way endorse or support this kind of content. We sincerely apologize to Mr. Gleason, his family and all those touched by ALS.”
The hosts of “Mayhem in the A.M.” made fun of the Saints cult hero by having a fake Gleason “call in” with a mock robot voice. You can listen here if you would like, but the whole bit isn’t particularly funny. At times, it’s unclear whether the hosts think the joke is a good idea, but they push on anyway.
The hosts apologized as soon as backlash began to mount, but the effort was not enough to save their jobs.
