New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has cleared the air after missing OTAs. He sat down with the New York Post and revealed that he formally apologized to coach Tom Coughlin for breaking his promise to attend the workouts.
Hakeem Nicks apologizes for missing Giants OTAs
Nicks revealed that he missed OTAs due to injuries, not his contract situation. He apologized to Tom Coughlin for the whole affair.

Nicks said that it was injury concerns, not his contract, that made him skip OTAs. He was hobbled by knee injuries last season and finished with just 692 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite his contract status, Nicks isn’t thinking about his long-term future with the Giants, content to live in the moment right now. From the Post:
“I really can’t speak for my whole career,” Nicks said. “I enjoy being a Giant right now. I’m going to take care of what I can take care of as long as I’m a Giant, but I do understand the business side of football, too.”
Nicks is an unrestricted free agent after the season and is set to make $2.7 million in 2013. He says that he won't miss training camp, but his absence from OTAs was an unwelcome distraction for the team, which is already dealing with a contract dispute with Victor Cruz.
