The Miami Dolphins are still trying to reel in free agent fullback Vonta Leach, who was cut by the Baltimore Ravens for salary cap reasons earlier in June.
Vonta Leach’s agent says Dolphins are best fit
While no contract has been signed, Miami and Vonta Leach appear on the right track.

Leach’s agent, Ralph Vitolo, believes the Dolphins are the right team for his client, but no deal has been struck yet, according to the Miami Herald.
When asked if Vitolo believes the Dolphins are the correct landing spot, he offers this, per the Herald:
“I think so. I hope so. It’s the right place to be. We’re trying to crunch the numbers.”
Despite drawing interest from a bevy of teams, including the Houston Texans, with whom Leach previously played from 2006-10, and the Ravens at a lower price, Miami has long been rumored to be the heavy favorite for Leach's services.
Leach is widely regarded as the best in the game at his position, coming off a season in which he was named to the All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams for the third consecutive time while earning a Super Bowl ring.
Over at SB Nation’s Dolphins blog, The Phinsider, there is plenty of discussion going on about whether Leach is a want or need:
I think the best answer is, it's somewhere in between. Leach is an upgrade over Jorvoraskie Lane, and would improve both the running game and the pass protection for the Dolphins. However, he would also be a detriment to the development of Lane, as well as some guys like Charles Clay and Evan Rodriguez, all of whom would lose snaps to Leach.
In 2012, Leach was voted as the 45th-best player in the league by his peers in the NFL Network series, The NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2012.
