So far, things are going well for the rookie in his new surroundings.

Many believed, including Te’o, that the youngster was going to have a very hard time being accepted into the locker room after suffering through the public humiliation of falling into a hoax which included a fake girlfriend.
However, Te’o says things have gone great in San Diego, per FOX:
“To be honest with you, I was kind of expecting the worst. I was careful where I went. I was careful with what I said. The first day (of offseason practice), guys are coming up to me and saying, ‘Just have fun. Be you.’ With that encouragement, I slowly started opening up a little more. I became myself — fast.”
The Chargers are in somewhat of a rebuilding mode, so Te'o is a very likely candidate to start in the first week of the season after being taken in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
The Notre Dame product finished second last season in the Heisman Trophy voting, when he was looking to become the first purely defensive player to win the cherished award.
He led the Fighting Irish to the National Championship game, where they were crushed, 42-10, by the Alabama Crimson Tide.
