Titans rumors: John Abraham contract talks stall

Abraham isn’t any closer to a new team after talks with the Titans have stalled.

Kevin C. Cox

The Tennessee Titans contract talks with free-agent defensive end John Abraham have "stalled," according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The negotiations aren't dead, but neither side is in a hurry to get anything done.

Abraham still hasn't found a new home after being released by the Atlanta Falcons. He has been in steady talks with the Titans for almost a month now, but the two sides have been unable to agree on a no deal as of yet. Presumably this has to do with the two-year, $8.75 million deal Dwight Freeney just inked with the San Diego Chargers, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean:

Abraham had 10 sacks and six forced fumbles with the Falcons last year. He’s still a quality pass-rusher at age 35, but is not an every-down player despite wanting to be paid like one. If he wants to find a team before training camp, he may have to settle for less money than what he’s looking for.
