Ahmad Bradshaw still discussing contract with Colts, according to report

The Colts’ deal for Ahmad Bradshaw is not dead yet.

Nick Laham

The Indianapolis Colts and Ahmad Bradshaw are still discussing a deal that would bring the running back to Indy, according to Mike Chappell. The deal is not imminent, but the two sides are still talking despite some indications in the past few days that they were too far apart to complete a contract.

Bradshaw rushed for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns on 221 carries for the Giants last season and added 23 catches. He would be the ideal running back to partner with Vick Ballard, but he is reportedly asking for more money than the Colts want to pay. Bradshaw is coming off of foot surgery in January and has had injury problems for the last couple seasons so there is concern in Indianapolis about committing a large sum of money to him.

If the Colts do sign Bradshaw, they may release Delone Carter or Donald Brown, the Indy Star's Philip B. Wilson speculates, to clear space for him in the backfield. The Colts drafted Kerwynn Williams in the seventh round and while his primary duties will be as a kick returner, he is still a running back and likely the fourth running back at that so with him, Ballard and Bradshaw, there would only be room for one of Carter or Brown.
