Seahawks won’t rush Chris Clemons back from knee injury

Seattle is giving one of its stars all the time he needs to heal up during training camp.

The Seattle Seahawks are not going to be forcing Chris Clemons back a day sooner than he is completely healthy, according to The News Tribune.

One of the teams many pundits are picking to win the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium come February, Seattle is exhibiting intelligence and patience with Clemons, who tore his ACL last year in the wild card game against the Washington Redskins. It's unclear whether Clemons will be able to play Week 1 come September.

Clemons has been the dominant pass-rusher in recent years for the Seahawks, racking up 11, 11 and 11.5 in each of the last three seasons, respectively. However, Seattle has given him help over the last year with the drafting of Bruce Irvin and signing of defensive end Cliff Avril.

Michael Bennett, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was also signed this offseason to give the defensive line some depth. Last season, Bennett had nine sacks after having only six his first three years.
