DeMarco Murray has been hampered by injuries during his first two seasons in the NFL. However, the Dallas Cowboys running back went on Colin Cowherd's radio show Wednesday and said that he would be "100 percent, ready to go" for the start of training camp later this month, according to the Dallas Morning News.
DeMarco Murray injury: Cowboys RB expected back by training camp
DeMarco Murray says he will be “100 percent” for Cowboys training camp, and that he hopes to be a larger part of the team’s offense this season.

Murray has missed nine games over the last two seasons with various ailments. He missed OTAs earlier this offseason due to a hamstring injury, and the Cowboys have been extra cautious with the former third-round pick this offseason. Murray told ESPN’s Sportscenter that he hopes the Cowboys will be featuring a more balanced attack as a result. Via the Morning News:
“We definitely need to emphasize the running game,” Murray said on SportsCenter. “When you’re second-to-last in attempts, more than likely you’re going to be second-to-last in rushing, so we definitely got to get the running game going.”
Murray has 1,560 yards rushing in 23 games played for his career. He is averaging a very respectable 4.8 yards per carry across 325 career carries, and has shown flashes of outright brilliance at times. Murray rushed for 253 yards against the St. Louis Rams in 2011, setting a Cowboys single game rushing record. He had 131 yards rushing in the 2012 season opener against the New York Giants before dings once again began to pile up.
Unfortunately, the injury-prone tag has followed Murray going back to his days at Oklahoma. While he naturally wants to be a bigger part of the offense, Murray's history suggests that he would have hard time being a heavily-used ball carrier. Murray could be pushed for playing time by rookie Joseph Randle, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
