Alfonzo Dennard arrested on DUI suspicion, according to report

The second-year pro ran into more legal trouble in his old college town on Thursday.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots defensive back Alfonzo Dennard was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Lincoln, Neb. early Thursday morning, according to the Omaha World-Herald. Police pulled Dennard over around 3 a.m. ET when the car he was driving was seen straddling a lane. He refused to submit to a field sobriety test.

The former University of Nebraska player has run into legal trouble in Lincoln before -- he was convicted of assaulting a police officer in an incident that occurred last year. He was sentenced in March to 30 days in jail, 100 hours of community service and placed on two years’ probation for that transgression.

Dennard was a seventh-round selection by the Patriots in the 2012 NFL Draft, and he appeared in 10 games as a rookie, making seven starts. He finished the year with 35 tackles and three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
