The New England Patriots released a statement Thursday on defensive back Alfonzo Dennard's arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence earlier in the morning.

“The New England Patriots are extremely disappointed to learn of Alfonzo Dennard’s arrest. We take this matter very seriously and are working to get more information on the incident.”
Dennard was pulled over around 3 a.m. ET in Lincoln, Neb., after police spotted him straddling a lane line. He refused a field sobriety test.
Dennard, a seventh-round pick out of Nebraska in 2012, made seven starts as a rookie last season for New England. He finished the season with 35 tackles, three interceptions and one touchdown.
He was the 2011 Big Ten defensive back of the year and was expected to be picked in the second or third round, but an arrest for assault of a police officer just five days before the draft hurt his stock.
