Brandon Bolden injury: Patriots RB sprained ankle over winter

Bolden is expected to be ready for training camp in two weeks.

Stew Milne-US PRESSWIRE

New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden injured his ankle over the winter and didn't take part in any team-related offseason training, ESPN.com's Adam Schefter reported Thursday.

Bolden sprained his ankle lifting weights on his own, according to the report, but it’s believed the ankle has sufficiently healed by now. He still attended the Patriots’ offseason training program but did not participate in drills.

The Patriots begin their training camp July 25, and Bolden is expected to be fully ready to go. He’ll meet with team trainers Monday to check the status of his ankle.

Bolden rushed for 274 yards and two touchdowns last season in his rookie season as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss. He was suspended four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy in November. Bolden is listed second on the Patriots' depth chart at running back behind Stevan Ridley.
