Henry Hynoski injury: Giants FB may be ahead of rehab schedule, according to report

The Giants’ fullback could be ready for Week 1.

New York Giants fullback Henry Hynoski suffered a lateral plateau fracture of his left knee in May, but he may be ahead of his rehab schedule and wants to play in Week 1, Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reported Thursday.

Medical reports have been positive on Hynoski's progress, and he could begin full weight-bearing exercises in the next few weeks, Orr said. Hynoski suffered the injury banging knees with running back Andre Brown during an 11-on-11 drill during the Giants' offseason training program.

The Giants are in the running to sign free agent fullback Vonta Leach to bridge the gap until Hynoski is ready, Orr reported. The team has also been working tight end Bear Pascoe at fullback to fill in while Hynoski recovers from the injury.

Hynoski, about to begin his third year in the NFL out of Pittsburgh, scored his first-career touchdown on a one-yard reception in Week 17 last season.
