Alfonzo Dennard’s camp says CB didn’t fail breathalyzer tests, according to report

Dennard’s breathalyzer attempts were not up to police standards, but he reportedly did blow a number under the legal limit.

Alfonzo Dennard's camp maintains that he did not fail the breathalyzer tests he took after being pulled over in Lincoln, Neb., early Thursday morning, according to a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. Alfonzo Dennard twice attempted to take a breathalyzer test, but was told he did not blow hard enough to meet test qualifications. The number Dennard did blow was reportedly below the legal limit.

Dennard was taken into custody by police under suspicion of driving under the influence around 3 a.m. ET Thursday. He was not asked to take a blood test, according to Rapoport’s report, and the results of his field sobriety test were not mentioned in the police report; it was simply noted that he did in fact take one.

The second-year pro appeared in 10 games as a rookie for New England, making seven starts. He was a seventh-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Patriots. He finished the season with 35 tackles and three interceptions.
