Ryan Clady contract: Broncos ‘optimistic’ a deal gets done

While nothing appears imminent, Denver and its left tackle seem to be moving in the right direction.

The Denver Broncos have until Monday, July 15 to negotiate a long-term deal with left tackle Ryan Clady before they must cease extension talks until after the season, per league rules.

According to Mike Garafolo, the team feels good about talks and believes a contract agreement might be reached in that timeframe, taking their large star off of the franchise tag.

The two sides have been working towards a deal all offseason, with the expectation that Clady will command somewhere a tad north of $10 million per year. Should he eclipse $10.4 million, he would become the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL on an annual basis.

Clady, 26, has been one of the best in the business, a three-time Pro Bowl selection in 2009, 2010 and 2012 and twice a first-team All-Pro honoree in 2009 and 2012.

With training camp opening up in under two weeks, signing Clady would be a nice way to ring in the new season for the Broncos and their fans.
