Longtime Redskins fan favorite Chris Cooley is hanging them up after nine seasons. He will join the Redskins’ radio broadcasts this season.

Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley has announced his retirement from the NFL, according to the Washington Post. Cooley will join the Redskins' radio broadcasts as an analyst.

Cooley, 31, was drafted by the Redskins in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He spent his entire career in Washington and became one of the most popular players in franchise history. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2007 and 2008.

The Redskins released Cooley before training camp last season, but brought him back in the middle of the season when Fred Davis tore his Achilles. Cooley only caught one pass, but he was happy to be part of the team and enjoyed spending time with Robert Griffin III.

Cooley finishes his career with 429 receptions, 4,711 yards and 33 touchdowns. The Post reports that he will only provide occasional analysis on the radio, and won’t be replacing retired Sam Huff as the full-time analyst.
