DeSean Jackson predicts Michael Vick will be Eagles starting quarterback

Though Philadelphia is going to have a competition at quarterback going into this season, at least one player has spoken up to endorse Vick.

DeSean Jackson is one of the most vocal players in the NFL, and that is probably why ESPN asked him on Wednesday who he thought would become the Eagles starting quarterback this season. Jackson was hesitant at first to give an answer, but eventually offered up his thoughts:

"In my opinion, honestly, I don’t want to be put on the spot, I know y’all gonna do me like that, but Michael Vick’s got a lot of confidence in himself. He’s been there, going on 12 years in the NFL, I think he’ll get the job," Jackson said during an ESPN interview.

Many have been wondering what kind of offense Chip Kelly would truly be running at the NFL level, and envisioned that a running-style quarterback like Vick might make the most sense. But the Eagles still have second-year quarterback Nick Foles and drafted pocket quarterback Matt Barkley out of USC in the fourth round of the draft this year.

Vick’s experience likely makes him the favorite to win the starting job, but he has struggled to duplicate the success he had during his 2010 Pro Bowl season with Philly. The controversial QB started 10 games for the Eagles last season, and they went 3-7 in those games with Vick throwing 10 interceptions over the course of the year.

It’s still very early in the process, with training camp yet to start, but Jackson already knows which QB he’s got his eye on to eventually win the job. Jackson also stated that the earlier the Eagles can name a starter at that position, the better.
