Pierre Garcon injury: Redskins WR cleared for full practice, according to report

Garcon missed six games in 2012 due to a toe injury, but it’s been shoulder surgery that’s kept him out all offseason. It appears he is now fully healthy again.

USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins' Pierre Garcon, the team's leading receiver in 2012, has been cleared to practice in full when training camp opens next week, according to a report from the Washington Post. Garcon had offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum and has received full clearance following a checkup with Dr. James Andrew this week.

Garcon had 44 catches for 633 yards in 10 games last season, but he missed a significant portion of the year with a toe injury. He decided not to have surgery on his toe due to the fact that doctors could not guarantee that it would fix his issue.

The only time Garcon has played a full 16-game season came in 2011, when he caught 70 passes for 947 yards for the Indianapolis Colts. That led to him signing a 5-year, $42.5 million contract with the Redskins prior to the 2012 season. While he was productive when he was on the field, Garcon struggled to remain healthy throughout the year.

Washington hopes that isn’t an issue this year and that he has no further problems in his shoulder following his recovery.
