Indianapolis Colts tight end Weslye Saunders has been suspended for the first eight games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing drugs, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Saunders was suspended four games after his 2011 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in what was rumored to be another run-in with PEDs.

There is no word yet on what substance Saunders may have tested positive for. The terms “performance-enhancing drugs” shelters a wide array of substances, from Adderall to HGH. The culprit in the 2012 suspension is still unknown.
Saunders has caught just six passes for 44 yards and a touchdown through two seasons in the NFL. He was released by the Steelers last year before his suspension had finished -- perhaps because he was in head coach Mike Tomlin’s doghouse, according to Steelers blog Behind the Steel Curtain -- and picked up by the Colts midseason
Saunders was expected to play behind 2012 NFL Draft picks Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen on the Colts' depth chart to open the season. If/when Saunders returns, he will compete for the third spot with 2012 undrafted free agent Dominique Jones and 2013 seventh-round pick Justice Cunningham.
