Free agent WR Bert Reed suspended 4 games, according to report

The NFL nomad has been benched by the league for undisclosed reasons.

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

Bert Reed, currently a free agent, has been suspended by the NFL for four games, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. A reason for the wide receiver's suspension remains undisclosed.

Reed entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State in 2012, and has bounced around from roster to roster ever since. He initially signed with the Cleveland Browns, but failed to make the 53-man roster. He then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a member of their practice squad for a couple of days. He caught on with the Denver Broncos' scout team later on in the season before being cut.

Reed's most lengthy and successful stint in the NFL began when he signed on with the Steelers' practice squad on Nov. 28. He managed to keep that slot through the remainder of the season and up until the NFL Draft in late April. Draft day brought two new receivers to Pittsburgh, however, and Reed was let go.
