The Arizona Cardinals have donated $100,000 to the families of the 19 firefighters killed in a wildfire earlier this week, according to Pro Football Talk.

The Cardinals have stepped up to help their community, donating $100,000 to the families of the firefighters who died while battling the Yarnell Hill fire.

The money will go to the 100 Club of Arizona, which provides financial relief to the families of firefighters lost in the line of duty. 19 of 20 firemen at the Granite Mountain Hotshots, considered an elite unit, died while battling the Yarnell Hill fire 80 miles northwest of Phoenix.
Cardinals president Michael Bidwill released this statement, via PFT:
“Our hearts go out to all of those affected by the devastating and tragic events this week, especially the families of the 19 brave members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost their lives serving our community,” Cardinals president Michael Bidwill said. “Our team is proud to assist the ongoing efforts and encourage our fans, the community and Arizona businesses to support these relief initiatives.”
The Cardinals also sent personnel to the American Red Cross shelter in Prescott to provide assistance, and plan to raise more fundraising closer to the start of training camp.
As of Tuesday, the fire is still raging on, spreading to 8,400 acres. About 500 firefighters are on the scene attempting to control the blaze.
