Titus Young excused for missing court date

Once again, a judge excused Young’s absence. The wide receiver is reportedly undergoing treatment.

For the second straight time, Titus Young did not show up for his scheduled court appearance, but once again the judge excused the wide receiver's absence. Young missed Tuesday's court date because he is undergoing treatment for concussions suffered during his time playing in the NFL, according to a report from the Detroit Free Press.

The former Lions wide receiver is facing 11 charges, including four felony counts of burglary and a count of vandalism, after he was arrested thee times in the span of a week in May. While the judge excused Young's absence on Tuesday, he said he was holding a bench warrant which could be issued if Young fails to appear for his next court date on Aug. 6, according to the report.

Young’s lawyer, Altus W. Hudson II, said Young is currently “safe” and still suffering from concussions, but declined to go into specifics of Young’s location, or whether he’s in a residential treatment center. Hudson also said he isn’t sure if Young will appear for his next court date.

Following his third arrest in May, Young’s father Richard said his son was suffering from a brain disorder and needed to be more dedicated to the treatment. According to the Detroit News, Richard Young said the treatment could take six months or less. Young was released from jail on June 8, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
