Maurice Jones-Drew injury: Jaguars RB cleared for practice

MJD has been medically cleared to practice after missing spring workouts with his Lisfranc injury.

USA TODAY Sports

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been cleared for practice after spending the offseason rehabbing his foot injury. Head coach Gus Bradley says that the team will monitor his reps in training camp, hoping to keep him fresh for the regular season.

Jones-Drew was more direct in his optimism, telling NFL.com “Now it’s back to football. It’s a long time coming.”

Jones-Drew suffered a Lisfranc injury halfway through the 2012 season, missing the final 10 games of the season. He opted to not have surgery on the foot until the end of the season, and didn’t go on injured reserve until Week 17. The Jaguars’ running game crumbled in his absence--despite all those missed games, Jones-Drew still led the team with 414 rushing yards.

Just two years removed from winning the rushing title and entering a contract year, Jones-Drew has a chance to cash a big paycheck with a bounce-back season.
