A.J. Green injury: Bengals WR hurts knee, leaves practice

A.J. Green appears to be OK after scaring onlookers on a hard fall during Bengals practice Thursday.

USA TODAY Sports

A.J. Green was forced to leave the Cincinnati Bengals' practice field after suffering an apparent knee injury, according to reports. Green reportedly fell hard on his left knee during a deep-ball drill, and frightened onlookers when he didn't immediately get back up off the ground. After being examined by team staff, Green was able to walk off the field without a limp.

Unfortunately for the Bengals, Green could be out a week or two. Antrell Hawkins, Jr., of Fox Sports Radio spoke with Green, who said that the injury felt like a hyperextension. Green suffered a similar injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers during his rookie season and needed two weeks to return.

Although Green could miss reps in training camp, his status for the regular season, or even the preseason, does not appear to be in any jeopardy. If Green is forced to sit the next few days, the rest of the Bengals' young receiving corps should benefit. Mohamed Sanu, Marvin Jones, Andrew Hawkins and Cobi Hamilton are all jockeying for playing time behind Green, and none have played more than two seasons in the NFL.
