Keenan Robinson injury: Redskins LB lost for season, per report

The second-year linebacker’s 2013 season is reportedly over before it began, tearing his pectoral muscle during practice.

Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

The Washington Redskins received news in the injury department on Thursday after linebacker Keenan Robinson suffered a torn left pectoral muscle that will cost him the entire 2013 season, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

The injury is another stroke of bad luck for the second-year linebacker out of the Texas who suffered a similar tear of the opposite pectoral to end his rookie year in 2012. He sustained that injury during the Redskins' game against the Dallas Cowboys last November just as his snaps were beginning to increase with starter London Fletcher hobbled by an ankle issue. He was placed on injured reserve shortly thereafter.

It is far from a debilitating blow for the ‘Skins defense, as Robinson contributed just 11 tackles in 11 games last season, but is nonetheless a frustrating setback for a promising prospect that the team spent a fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft to acquire.
