Panthers linebacker Jon Beason has restructured his contract and will be taking a pay cut for Carolina in 2013, according to ESPN.
Jon Beason restructures contract with Panthers, takes $4.25 million paycut
Beason helped the Panthers get some needed salary cap space.

Beason’s new deal will pay him a fully guaranteed $1 million salary, which is a $4.25 million pay cut from his $5.25 million salary in 2012. That drops his cap hit from $9.5 million to $5.25 million.
The rest of Beason’s contract remains untouched. He remains under contract through the 2016 season and his scheduled cap hit for the 2014 season will be $10.75 million.
Beason gives the Panthers a big boost by restructuring his deal. The team is now $12.8 million under the cap for the upcoming season. Beason also didn’t receive any money up front for restructuring his contract. It’s just a simple paycut.
Beason hasn’t recorded 100 tackles in a season since 2010 due to various injuries.
