The Baltimore Ravens have signed former Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe to a one-year deal, the team announced on Sunday.
Visanthe Shiancoe signs with Ravens to replace Dennis Pitta
The Ravens have reacted quickly to Dennis Pitta’s injury.

The deal is worth the league minimum of $940,000, according to Aaron Wilson. If Shiancoe is on the Ravens’ roster for Week 1, his salary if fully guaranteed.
Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta suffered a season-ending hip injury, leaving the team with a void at the position. Ed Dickson has the talent to be a productive option as a receiver, but using him in that role leaves the Ravens with a need for a blocking tight end. That’s where Shiancoe comes in.
Shiancoe hasn’t caught a pass since 2011.
