Armon Binns injury: Dolphins WR has torn ACL, according to report

Miami’s depth at wide receiver took a hit on Sunday.

Jim Rogash

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Armon Binns suffered ACL and MCL tears in practice Sunday and is out for the season, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Binns, who was claimed off waivers by Miami last year, was expected to be the Dolphins' No. 4 receiver in 2013.

Jackson says Binns was in the midst of an impressive offseason, and that he had been getting some reps with the first-team offense. Miami is also without Rishard Matthews, the team's No. 5 receiver, for a few weeks. That leaves a bunch of other players to compete for some newly vacant roles:

That leaves -- for now -- Marvin McNutt, Jeff Fuller, Brian Tyms, Chad Bumphis, Kenny Stafford, Jasper Collins and newcomer Andrell Smith competing for the No. 4 and 5 receiving jobs. McNutt has had the best camp of that group.

Binns played in three games for the Dolphins in 2012 after coming over from Cincinnati, making six receptions for 67 yards. He had 18 grabs for 210 yards and a score in eight games with the Bengals.
