The San Diego Chargers might be the next team to appear on HBO's Hard Knocks reality series, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. It doesn't appear to be unanimously favored by the Chargers, but Acee reports sources indicate that the Chargers are a "favorite" to be the subject of the series' 2014 iteration.
Chargers considering ‘Hard Knocks’ appearance in 2014
The Chargers CEO is discussing appearing on the HBO reality series, but there are plenty of people in the organization against that idea.

Chargers’ CEO A.G. Spanos told Acee that the team is very interested in appearing on the show due to other teams finding success in the business marketing departments after appearing on the show, but head coach Mike McCoy doesn’t appear to be quite as interested in the idea -- though he does have an open mind about it.
“We just have to sit down as an organization and discuss exactly what we want to expose everyone to,” McCoy said. “You can see both sides of it. You see the exposure it brings to an organization, but there are also things you don’t want to put out.”
McCoy seems to have an ally in Spanos’ brother, John, the team’s Executive Vice President of Football Operations.
“It’s a very entertaining show,” John said. “I enjoy watching it ... Now, everything we do (in football operations) is working toward what gives us the best chance to win. My brother and I work in very different ends of the building. (‘Hard Knocks’) merits a discussion, but you can guess what side of the fence I land on.”
Acee's article mentions that team president Dean Spanos and general manager Tom Telesco aren't exactly on board, either -- along with quarterback (and likely star of the show) Philip Rivers.
“Obviously, these decisions are made in higher places than I am in,” he said. “Whether it happens or not, I’m going to be the same, act the same in my role as quarterback. But if asked, I’d say, ‘Please don’t.’ ”
Whether or not the discussions between business personnel, player personnel and the coaching staff are ever able to all agree that an appearance on Hard Knocks is worth doing, it sounds like there will be members of the organization not fully on-board with the idea regardless of how much it helps the team’s money-making efforts.
