Dolphins rumors: Austin Collie, Laurent Robinson interest Miami

Laurent Robinson continues to workout for teams, with the Miami Dolphins next on the list.

Phil Sears-US PRESSWIRE

After losing Armon Binns for the season due to a knee injury over the weekend, the Miami Dolphins are in the market for a replacement. Laurent Robinson will work out for the Dolphins on Tuesday and Austin Collie could also be an option, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Dolphins have considerably more wide receiver depth than they had a year ago, but the loss of Binns still hurts. He was projected as Miami's No. 4 wide receiver behind Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson. A player already on the roster could step up and fill Binns' role, but Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald said the team is looking at outside options.

Robinson is likely the best wide receiver on the free agent market, as Kevin Nogle of The Phinsider detailed. His concussion history, however, may still be a concern. Robinson was limited to seven games last season due to concussions. Jacksonville released him earlier this offseason and while he's drawn interest from a handful of teams, he remains on the market. According to the National Football Post, Robinson has also worked out for the New York Jets, New England Patriots and Detroit Lions recently.

Like Robision, Collie also comes with concussion concerns. Collie’s suffered at least four concussions during his career and is also coming of a patella tendon injury. Collie said he’s willing to sign a waiver, so teams wouldn’t have the threat of him suing if he suffers long-term damage with another injury.

Brandon Lloyd, Donald Jones, Steve Breaston and Deion Branch are among the other notable names currently on the free agent market.
