Ahmad Bradshaw injury: Colts RB hopes to return in 2 weeks

Ahmad Bradshaw isn’t rushing things with his surgically repaired foot, but he hopes to start practicing in about two weeks.

USA TODAY Sports

Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw says he hopes to be ready to practice in about two weeks, according to Kevin Bowen of the Colts' website.

Bradshaw opened training camp on the active/PUP list following offseason surgery on his right foot, which required him to wear a walking boot as late as June. The Giants released the 27-year-old back in February. Bradshaw is still on track for the regular season, and he told Bowen that as a veteran, he doesn't need the preseason reps as much.

Despite the foot injury forcing him to miss numerous practices last season, Bradshaw still played in 14 games and recorded 1,015 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry.

Second-year back Vick Ballard will carry first-team reps with Bradshaw sidelined. He led the Colts with 814 rushing yards in 2012, but had just two touchdowns and 3.9 yards per carry. Bradshaw is expected to take over as the feature back once healthy. Donald Brown, Kerwynn Williams and Delone Carter are fighting for depth spots.
