Free-agent RB Jamie Harper reportedly arrested for assault

The former Titans tailback was charged with domestic assault, per reports.

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

Jamie Harper was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. Police responded to a call from Harper's girlfriend after a fight between the two and when officers showed up, the woman was injured, according to WKRN Nashville.

By the time they arrived, Harper reportedly had fled the motel where the incident occurred. He was later stopped at a nearby intersection where he was taken into custody. Police charged him with domestic assault and booked him into the Williamson County jail.

In a statement to police, Harper said he and his girlfriend had a fight and that he "pushed" his way past her. His girlfriend told police she was scared because Harper was "beating on the door so violently."

Harper has been a free agent since being released by the Tennessee Titans in May. He was selected in the fourth round by the Titans in the 2011 NFL Draft, but he had just 36 carries in his two seasons with the team.
