Jared Allen will be ready for the start of Minnesota Vikings training camp at the end of July, the defensive end told "NFL AM" on Monday morning. Allen is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. The 31-year-old isn't necessarily excited about the prospect of what will be his 10th career training camp, however.
Jared Allen injury: Vikings DL will be ready for training camp
Jared Allen will become an unrestricted free agent in 2014 if he doesn’t sign an extension with the Vikings this season.

“I was hoping to get a couple weeks of training camp off, but the training staff is pretty good here so I’m ready to rock and roll,” Allen said.
Allen remains productive despite his veteran status. He recorded 12 sacks last season, which is a far cry from the 22 he recorded in 2011 but still makes him one of the most effective pass rushers in the NFL. His total ranked eighth in the NFL.
Allen will become an unrestricted free agent if he isn’t signed to a new contract before the offseason begins in 2014. How he performs in 2013 could be a major factor in determining how much money he will make going forward, and for how long.
Despite his advancing age, few players have been more consistent than Allen. He has missed just three games in his career, all during his first four years in the NFL. He has recorded at least 11 sacks in seven out of nine years in the league, and in each of his last six seasons.
