Terrence Cody injury: Ravens DL still uncertain of return

Cody is making progress, but he’s still needs time to recover from offseason surgery.

Baltimore Ravens nose guard Terrence Cody is still recovering from offseason hip surgery and isn't sure when he'll be able to return to action, according to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson.

Cody doesn’t know when he’ll be back, but he’s hoping to be healthy for the start of the regular season:

"I don't know yet," Cody said during Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain's annual football and fitness clinic at Reisterstown Regional Park. "We'll know once it gets closer to camp time, but I think I'm going to take my time, though."

The Ravens drafted Cody in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft and signed him to a four-year, $3.06 million rookie contract. Since then, the big lineman has been a bit of a disappointment. He started every game in 2011, compiling 34 tackles during the regular season and eight tackles in two postseason contests. However, his play dropped off in 2012, and he started just three games, losing his job to Ma'ake Kemoeatu.

Cody made a name for himself in 2008 and ‘09 playing for Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. With his massive size -- his nickname was “Mount Cody” -- he became one of college football’s best run-stuffers and was a menace to opposing offensive lines. He played in a 3-4 at Alabama, which led the Ravens to believe he would be a perfect fit on their line.
