Ryan Tannehill continues to improve as Dolphins camp goes on

The Miami quarterback has gotten over a slow start to training camp.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill wasn't playing his best football at the beginning of training camp, which led to some early concerns from fans of the team. The second-year quarterback has been getting better since then though, and hasn't tossed an interception in over a week (via ESPN.com's James Walker):

“I definitely think I am improving, and that’s what you want to do,” Tannehill said. “You want to come out here, improve every day, learn from your mistakes, don’t make the same mistake twice. I think, not only myself but the quarterbacks in general, we’re doing that.”

Tannehill threw three touchdown passes during a scrimmage Monday, and that's the sort of encouraging sign the team is looking for as it heads into 2013. The Dolphins made some upgrades to help Tannehill during the offseason, including the addition of wide receiver Mike Wallace, and if they are going to improve on last year's 7-9 record and make a playoff push, the offense must make strides.

Which is where Tannehill comes in. Miami finished last season ranked 27th in both total offense and scoring, but with some progression from Tannehill, the offense should move forward with him.

The Dolphins meet the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday.
