Vikings’ DeMarcus Love suspended 4 games for PED violation, according to report

The Minnesota tackle has been trying to remain healthy and prove himself as a starting-level offensive lineman, but it seems as though he will remain inactive for at least four more games to start the season.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Minnesota Vikings offense tackle DeMarcus Love has been suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, per Ian Rapoport. Love, a third-year pro, has not yet been active for a game in the NFL.

The Vikings selected Love in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft out of Arkansas, where he was teammates with current Vikings wide receivers Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. Daily Norseman wrote at the time of him being drafted that he had slipped from a "potential first-rounder" to the 168th overall selection because of a knee injury in the Sugar Bowl that made him look bad in the Senior Bowl.

Love made the final 53-man roster as a rookie but was not active for a game that year. The team drafted left tackle Matt Kalil early in the 2012 draft and that forced Love further down the depth chart. He spent 2012 on injured reserve.

With a two-year career beset by injuries, Love has been trying to right his ship since that knee injury in the Sugar Bowl. It now appears that the ship will continue to sail off-course for at least four more games.
