Percy Harvin injury: Seahawks WR undergoes surgery, hopes to play in 2013

Percy Harvin’s hip surgery went well on Thursday and coach Pete Carroll is still expecting him to play sometime in the 2013 season.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin underwent surgery on his hip labrum Thursday. Head coach Pete Carroll says that the surgery in New York City went well. Percy will start his rehab in New York for two weeks before returning to Seattle, Eric Williams of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Harvin is expected to miss most of the 2013 season with a lengthy rehab session. Carroll remains optimistic that he can come back late in the season, although he still won’t give any firm timetable on Harvin’s recovery:

Harvin is currently on the PUP list and expected to miss 3-4 months, which would put his return date sometime in late November or early December. The team hopes to have him back in time for the playoff push, but it’s too early to be speculating on that front.

The Seahawks will move forward with Sidney Rice, Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin as their top receiving options. Rice is in Switzerland receiving treatment for his knee, but Carroll expects him to be back in time for preseason.
