Cowboys vs. Raiders game recap: Tony Romo shines in defeat

Oakland held on in the end for its first win and a little bit of hope going forward.

Cary Emondson-US PRESSWIRE

The Oakland Raiders defeated the Dallas Cowboys 19-17 on Friday night at the O.co Coliseum, earning their first win of the 2013 campaign.

Despite the loss for the Cowboys, Tony Romo looked very sharp in his exhibition debut, completing 6-of-8 passes for 88 yards without an interception. Dez Bryant was the main recipient, hauling in three catches for 55 yards. On the other side, Raiders starter Matt Flynn was 4-of-5 for 37 yards while being sacked once for a 15-yard loss.

Oakland's backup quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, showed some ability with 88 passing yards and another 31 yards on the ground. His only blemish was an interception in Dallas' end zone.

Raiders rookie wide receiver Brice Butler had a pair of receptions for 70 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown which put Oakland ahead for good in the third quarter.

For the Cowboys, receiver Cole Beasley and rookie running back Joseph Randle scored, but it wasn't enough to run Dallas' record to 2-0 following a win in the Hall of Fame game against the Miami Dolphins.
