Mike Zordich injury: Panthers FB out for season with torn ACL

Another player has suffered a season-ending injury.

USA TODAY Sports

Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Zordich is out for the season with a torn ACL, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press.

More on the Panthers: Cat Scratch Reader

Zordich is a 23-year-old rookie out of the Penn State. He signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent a week after the 2013 NFL Draft.

Mike Tolbert is listed as Carolina's starting fullback with Zordich being the primary backup. The Panthers' offense doesn't always utilize a fullback, but Tolbert was entrenched as the starter either way. Zordich's only shot at making an impact as a rookie would have been on special teams.

Zordich was no lock to make the roster, but the Panthers will be able to stash him on injured reserve provided he clears waivers.
