Baltimore Ravens tight end Ed Dickson is hoping to be back for the regular season opener on Sept. 5 against the Denver Broncos, but he offers no guarantees, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Ed Dickson injury: Ravens TE uncertain of return date
There’s no specific timetable for Dickson, who continues to work his way back from a hamstring issue.

Dickson, who suffered a slightly torn hamstring in training camp, is still working his way back and might not be cleared in time for Week 1. While it certainly isn’t the best case scenario, Dickson believes in the process:
“I can’t make any predictions but I’m working hard to do that,” Dickson said. “It’s one of those things where it was really sore and I tried to prevent it by doing other things. The doctor said it went all the way through, so it’s not lingering through the season so I can get all the way healthy and make me back to 100 percent.”
“You can’t rush back those things,” Dickson said. “I’m trying my hardest to get back out there. It kills me. I’m hard on myself. I want to get back out there today, but I don’t want to go out and hurt the team and be out for weeks during the regular season.
The loss of Dickson for any extended amount of time would be crushing, considering the lack of depth at the tight end position for the Ravens. Dennis Pitta, the team's regular starter, was already lost for the season with a fractured and dislocated hip. Last year, Dickson had 21 receptions for 225 yards.
Should Dickson be out for the first game, Dallas Clark may have the chance to start.
Clark was signed on Sunday to play alongside Dickson but could step into the spotlight for a game occasionally. After spending nine seasons with the old Baltimore franchise, Clark played 2012 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and racked up 47 catches and four touchdowns.
