San Diego wide receiver Malcom Floyd suffered a right knee injury during practice on Monday and had to be carted off the field, according to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego.

According to Gehlken, Floyd was down on the ground for several minutes being tended to by trainers before being taken off in a cart. The severity of the injury remains unknown and more details could be available once the Chargers finish practice.

If the injury turns out to be serious, it would be a massive blow for the Chargers. The 31-year-old Floyd led the Chargers in receiving last season with 814 yards and was expected to play a key role in the offense this season. San Diego's wide receiving corps already took a hit during training camp as Danario Alexander tore his ACL during practice less than a week ago.

Vincent Brown was penciled into a starting role after Alexander went down. He and rookie Keenan Allen could play even bigger roles if Floyd misses a significant amount of time.
