Tyler Wilson shows ‘accuracy issues’ in Raiders camp

The Raiders drafted Tyler Wilson, but he’s in for a fight with undrafted free agent Matt McGloin.

Tyler Wilson is having some problems at Oakland Raiders training camp. The rookie looks like, well, a rookie.

“There’s still just a little inconsistency there as far as accuracy issues,” Raiders coach Dennis Allen told the San Francisco Chronicle. “He had some issues (Friday) just understanding where the protection was coming from. He’s a rookie. Like a lot of rookies, he still has a long way to go and Tyler’s continuing to work, and I think it’s a good competition we have there between him and McGloin.”

The Raiders aren’t going to ask Wilson to start in Week 1 so his struggles aren’t a major concern for the team, but they may be for the quarterback. His spot on the roster isn’t set in stone.

Matt Flynn looks likely to be the Raiders' starting quarterback, although Terrelle Pryor is giving him a good run, leaving only one other spot available. Matt McGloin played well in the team's first preseason game, giving him a real chance to make the roster ahead of Wilson.

The Raiders are going to have a rookie third-string quarterback, but who will it be? They may have drafted Wilson, whereas McGloin was signed as an undrafted free agent, but if Wilson continues to struggle, there’s no reason to think he’s going to make the team ahead of McGloin.
