Jamaal Charles injury: Chiefs RB rehabs foot strain

One of the game’s great runners is working his way back onto the field after an injury scare earlier in the week.

Kansas CIty Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles left Monday's training camp practice on a cart, terrifying all those who root for the franchise. Luckily it turned out to be nothing more than a right foot strain, giving everyone a chance to exhale.

Charles was seen rehabbing the foot by going up and down a hill during Wednesday morning’s final day of training camp, according to Dave Skretta. Without Charles, Kansas City’s offense would be in serious trouble.

Not only has Charles been a Pro Bowler his last two years, but he's one of the most electrifying players in the game. His career average of 5.8 yards per carry is the best in NFL history and his 1,509 rushing yards in 2012 ranked behind only Adrian Peterson, Alfred Morris and Marshawn Lynch.

Charles will be relied upon even heavier this year, too, with new head coach Andy Reid planning to have him more involved in the passing game in his West Coast offense.
