Tom Brady injury: Video of Patriots QB hurting knee in practice

Brady hurt his knee at Patriots practice after left tackle Nate Solder was shoved off the line of scrimmage back into the star quarterback.

John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

We told you about the injury suffered by Tom Brady in New England Patriots practice Wednesday, and now we have video of the incident, taken by fan Chad Kopcak at the open practice:

As you can see, Pats left tackle Nate Solder gets pushed backwards off the line of scrimmage by a Buccaneers defensive end Adrian Clayborn, and as he gets knocked to the ground, he gets tangled up with Brady’s legs. Brady immediately goes down and holds his knee. And the crowd reacts with a slew of “Oh no!” cries.

The extent of Brady’s injury is still unknown, but one would expect the team to sit him for precautionary reasons in Thursday night’s preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady, of course, is vitally important for New England: the eight-time Pro Bowler, two-time MVP, and three-time Super Bowl champ has started every game for the Patriots since a 2008 tear of his ACL and MCL ended his season after just one game, the only year since 2002 that the Pats haven’t won the AFC East.

For those wondering whether it is now, in fact, Tebow Time: backup Ryan Mallett was back at practice on Monday after suffering a head injury in the team’s preseason opener, and would be the presumptive starter if Brady is unable to go.
